Speaking after the game, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said he was “very pleased” with the performance and result but felt his side could have scored even more.

He said: “I’m very pleased with the result and performance. We had a great start to the game and we could have scored more goals. We need to keep this level of performance up if we want to have a successful season.”
