Arsenal will return to Premier League action on Boxing Day but they will be without star man Gabriel Jesus.
The striker suffered a serious knee injury while away with Brazil at the World Cup, forcing him to return to London early.
After heading back from Qatar, he was forced to have surgery which extended his expected time out.
Mikel Arteta will now have to cope without his number nine for a big chunk of the remainder of the season, which have a huge impact on their title chances.
How long is Gabriel Jesus out for?
Jesus is expected to be out of action for up to three months.
He will likely miss all Arsenal fixtures up until the end of February or the start of March, with his recovery now underway.
Although the Brazilian gave a positive update on Instagram as he posted a picture of him on crutches with the caption ‘Progressing’.
His manager then addressed the injury in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Gunners’ Boxing Day clash.
“With Gabi it’s difficult to put a time frame. I never gave a date. I said that we don’t know,” Arteta said.
“It’s going to take some time for sure. He’s gone through surgery and that tells you the extent of the injury.
“We will be in the market always active and we will assess the biggest opportunities that we have.”
Arsenal are set to be delving into the transfer market during the January window to find a replacement for Jesus while he is absent.
