Houston Basketball: Terrance Arceneaux Out for Season with Achilles Tendon Injury
Houston’s basketball team, ranked No. 4, celebrated a significant victory against Texas A&M on Saturday. However, the win came at a cost as sophomore wing Terrance Arceneaux suffered a season-ending injury. Coach Kelvin Sampson confirmed that Arceneaux tore his right Achilles tendon during the game.
The Loss of Terrance Arceneaux
Terrance Arceneaux, standing at 6-foot-6, had been contributing an average of 5.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game this season. Unfortunately, he sustained the injury on a non-contact play during Houston’s 70-66 victory over the Aggies. Prior to his injury, Arceneaux had showcased his skills with 19 rebounds in the Cougars’ wins against Rice and Jackson State.
The absence of Arceneaux will undoubtedly impact Houston’s lineup moving forward. However, the team remains strong with their undefeated record of 11-0 and their top rankings in various metrics, including KenPom and Bart Torvik’s ratings.
Upcoming Games and Big 12 Matchup
Before their first Big 12 matchup against West Virginia on January 6, Houston will face Texas State and Penn at home. These games will provide an opportunity for the team to adjust their lineup and continue their winning streak.
Despite the setback, Houston’s basketball program remains determined to overcome this challenge and maintain their dominance in the college basketball scene.
