Benoit Badiashile has heaped praise on ‘legend’ Thiago Silva as he revealed the ‘honour’ of lining up alongside him.
And the 21-year-old who joined Chelsea at the start of January, has insisted he was convinced of making the move to west London from Monaco due to the club’s ‘exciting project’.
Badiashile arrived in the capital earlier this month in a £35million deal with the centre-back penning a contract until 2030.
And the two-cap France international earned rave reviews on Sunday when he made his debut in the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace.
The youngster put in an assured display at the back where he will be hoping he has now cemented a spot in Graham Potter‘s starting XI.
And Badiashile heaped praise on his experienced teammate Silva, telling talkSPORT he has been getting advice both on and off the pitch.
“First and foremost, it’s a real honour to play alongside him,” he said.
“And do you know what? For a young player like me, he’s someone that makes things easy.

“He’s a legend, isn’t he? He’s a real leader, he’s very, very experienced of course.
“Any of the advice that he gives me is always welcome, he’s advised me not only when we’ve been playing – he’s spoken to me during the game.
“But also before the game and in training as well. So he’s someone that you can only learn alongside.
“And as I say, it’s an absolute honour to line up alongside him.”
And Badiashile, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past, has also lifted the lid on why he chose to join Chelsea.
He has stated he was convinced to join after being sold by the club’s project of building for the future with young players.
Along with Badiashile, Chelsea have also signed Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, Mykhailo Mudryk, Cesare Casadei, David Datro Fofana and Gabriel Slonina aged 22 or under since owner Todd Boehly bought the club off Roman Abramovich.
Asked what attracted him to make the move to Chelsea, Badiashile remarked: “The main reason that I came to Chelsea is that they’ve got such an exciting project.
“I’m really looking forward to the future, the plans for the future are really positive.
“They’ve obviously shown they have a huge faith in youngsters and it’s a good club to progress as a youngster.
“It’s a project that convinced me as soon as we talked about it.”
Badiashile will be looking to keep his place in the line-up when the Blues face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
