Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has declared that he will not use the word “retire” when discussing his future in football. The 75-year-old former England boss returned to Selhurst Park in March and has since guided the Eagles to safety, with the team three points above the relegation zone when he took over. Hodgson has stated that he will leave his options open and not rule out any potential offers that come his way.
The veteran manager has an impressive managerial career spanning over 45 years, managing 22 teams across eight different countries. He has managed six Premier League clubs and holds the record for being the competition’s oldest manager. Hodgson previously spent four years with Palace from 2017 before deciding to step away from football in 2021, before being appointed Watford boss in 2022 and leaving five months later after they were relegated to the Championship.
Palace are now mathematically safe from relegation with 40 points in 12th place and host Bournemouth on Saturday. Hodgson has expressed that he is enjoying life at the moment and will consider offers that come his way, although he does not have an agent actively seeking work for him.
