During a press conference, Hodgson was asked about his team’s precarious position, and he believed that the reporter was intentionally trying to upset him with her line of questioning.

On Amazon Prime Video, he responded, “Of course, it is a concern when you are not winning matches, and we are not winning matches at the moment. But it would be even more concerning if I thought the team was playing poorly or if the players were not working hard or showing the spirit they are showing. That would be much more of a concern.”

Hodgson further explained, “Don’t forget that our last four games have been against tough opponents. We played at home against Liverpool, away against Manchester City, at home against Brighton, and away against Chelsea. So, we’re not exactly playing teams in the same area of the league as us. Once again, you are trying to use statistics to hurt me. It does hurt to be near the bottom of the table, but being near the bottom with 19 games to go doesn’t hurt me as much as you may suggest.”
