Despite frequently being labelled as the Premier League’s nicest player, Heung-Min Son showed a somewhat fiery side when he was substituted in Tottenham’s north London derby win.

The South Korean, who had already scored once in the 3-0 victory, is chasing the Premier League’s Golden Boot and is now one goal behind Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

And the Spurs forward was clearly keen on adding to his tally against the ten-man Gunners and potentially overtaking Salah on Thursday – until he was taken off by Antonio Conte.

Son then disappointingly trudged off the pitch, muttering under his breath, which led to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg having to have a word with him before he spoke to his manager.

But, whilst Son looked angry on the bench after the substitution, he had calmed down after the game, stating he was ‘just disappointed’ to come off.

He told Sky Sports after the game: “Obviously I always want to play, but what can I say?

“It’s the manager’s decision, I need to accept it. He said that we have an important game on Sunday, so that’s why [I came off].

“It’s not a big deal, obviously. In that moment I’m not angry, just disappointed because I came off.

“But I’ve moved on because on Sunday we have another game.

He added: “I just wanted to keep playing. There wasn’t 100 per cent more goals out there even though they had one man less, I just wanted to continue to play.

“When I look at it, we have a very important game on Sunday so I need to be ready. I need to recover well, to be fresh again, and to help the team.”

Conte made sure he went over and hugged his superstar forward after the win, which takes them just one point behind their rivals.
