# Sheffield United Boss Paul Heckingbottom “Upset” After 8-0 Defeat to Newcastle
Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom was left “upset” after his side’s “unacceptable” second-half performance in their 8-0 defeat by Newcastle. The Blades were already 4-0 down at half-time, but conceded four more goals in the second half to suffer a heavy defeat.
## Sheffield United’s Poor Performance
The Blades had started the game brightly, with a few chances going begging early on. However, Newcastle soon took control of the game and opened the scoring through Joelinton in the 24th minute. The Magpies then added three more goals before half-time, with Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton all finding the net.
In the second half, Newcastle continued to dominate and added four more goals to their tally. Almiron scored his second of the game, before Sean Longstaff, Jonjo Shelvey and Dwight Gayle all got on the scoresheet.
## Paul Heckingbottom’s Reaction
After the game, Paul Heckingbottom was clearly unhappy with his side’s performance. Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: “I’m upset with the second-half performance. It was unacceptable and we have to take responsibility for it. We have to learn from it and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Heckingbottom also praised Newcastle for their performance, saying: “They were very good and you have to give them credit for that. They took their chances and we didn’t.”
