Harry Kane tells Bayern Munich he wants to join them this summer, according to Uli Hoeness
Former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane has told the German champions he wants to join them this summer. Bayern have had two offers rejected for the England striker in recent weeks, with the latest said to be worth £68.5million plus add-ons.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is determined to hold onto the striker, who has one year left on his current deal and hope he will sign a new contract in north London. However, Hoeness believes Kane’s desire to join Bayern will force Tottenham’s hand this summer.
Kane Signals Intent to Join Bayern
“Harry Kane has clearly signalled in all conversations that his decision has been made – and if it stays, then we will get him because then Tottenham will have to buckle,” Hoeness said from Bayern Munich’s training camp. He added: “He wants to play in European competitions and luckily for us Tottenham won’t be playing there next year. He now has another opportunity to come to a top club in Europe. What we all like: His advisors are also very pleasant in this case. Up to now, his father and his brother have always stood by what they promised. If it stays that way, then it is okay.”
Thomas Tuchel Cautious on Kane Pursuit
Just hours before Hoeness’ comments, head coach Thomas Tuchel took a more cautious approach when quizzed on the club’s interest in Kane. “I have a very boring answer: I do not comment on players who are not with us,” Tuchel told a press conference. “It’s well known that we are looking for a number 9. If we find someone that fits in, then we’ll go all in. If we don’t find anyone, we’re happy with our squad. But we need more patience.”
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing Kane while Manchester United are thought to have shelved their interest this summer.
