Harry Kane ‘increasingly likely’ to stay at Tottenham despite Bayern Munich offer
England captain Harry Kane is swaying towards staying at Tottenham and is ‘increasingly likely’ to reject a move to Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga giants had a £86million bid for Kane accepted by Spurs on Thursday.
The Germans had been in negotiations with Tottenham for the last month over a move for the 30-year-old and felt they had the green light from Kane and his camp that he wanted to move to the Allianz Arena, and therefore felt the protracted talks with Spurs were worth it.
However, despite having just a year left on his Tottenham deal and indicating that he will not sign an extension, Sky Sports say Kane is edging towards staying in north London.
What is encouraging Kane to stay?
Kane is said to be encouraged by Ange Postecoglou’s appointment and has been impressed with the Australian’s methods. It’s also likely that Kane feels it’s too late into the transfer window to move to Germany, given the season starts this weekend. Kane wanted his future resolved before pre-season.
What does this mean for Tottenham?
But it remains to be seen whether Spurs will countenance keeping a player who has shown little willingness to engage in talks over a new deal, and could walk away for free in less than a year’s time.
