Erling Haaland, the star striker of Manchester City, has caused an unexpected surge in sales of Y-fronts after being photographed wearing them with celebrity fan Noel Gallagher. Haaland has become a global sensation after his record-breaking season with Manchester City, scoring 36 goals in 33 games and helping the team to the brink of a treble. Following their victory over Arsenal last month, Haaland was pictured outside the dressing room with Gallagher, casually standing in his Calvin Klein Y-fronts while holding his phone and a drink bottle. Since the picture went online on April 26, sales of Y-fronts have skyrocketed by 45%, according to discount department chain TOFS. Tracy Ford, the company’s chief merchandising officer, said that Haaland had sparked a revival of interest in this traditional menswear staple. Gallagher spoke about Haaland following their meeting after the game, describing him as “like a big, mad child” and “an incredible footballer”.
