# Erling Haaland’s Record-Breaking Premier League Season
Erling Haaland has had a record-breaking first season in the Premier League. As the champions prepare to launch their 2023-24 campaign at Burnley, BBC Sport looks back at some of the best goals from his remarkable season.
The Norwegian striker joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022 and quickly established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in the league. He scored an impressive 17 goals in his first season, including a hat-trick against Liverpool in November. He also scored a brace against Chelsea in April, helping United to a 3-2 win.
Haaland’s goalscoring exploits earned him the Golden Boot award for the 2022-23 season, and he was also named Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA). He was also named in the PFA Team of the Year, alongside fellow United stars Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.
Haaland’s goals have been a major factor in United’s success this season. The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League, just two points behind champions Manchester City. They also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they were knocked out by eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.
The 20-year-old has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, with Real Madrid and Barcelona reportedly interested in signing him. However, United are determined to keep hold of their star striker and are reportedly ready to offer him a new contract.
United fans will be hoping that Haaland can continue his impressive form next season and help the club challenge for major honours. With his eye for goal and ability to score from any angle, he is sure to be a key player for United in the coming years.
