Pep Guardiola Hails Manchester City Players as “Supermen”
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has showered praise on his players, calling them “supermen” after their hard-fought victory against Bournemouth. The team’s relentless pursuit of a fourth consecutive league title remains on track, despite the challenges of a packed schedule.
Guardiola commended his team for their ability to find a way to win, even after playing midweek against Brentford. In an interview with Sky Sports, he expressed his admiration for the players’ resilience, stating, “I adore my players – they are supermen. They are so good. Where we come from, for many years, playing every three days – they [Bournemouth] had seven days to prepare for the game and we always have less.”
Acknowledging the demanding nature of their schedule, Guardiola empathized with his players, stating that while they earn substantial salaries, the workload is still overwhelming. He further added, “But business must go on and it surprises me every time how we are still there. They have an incredible character and are so competitive – even when they are tired, they give extra. Our fans have to be so proud of these guys.”
Despite facing some challenges during their match against Bournemouth, City managed to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory. This win follows their previous 1-0 triumph over Brentford and solidifies their position as strong contenders for a historic fourth successive top-flight English title.
Guardiola defended his team’s performance, highlighting that winning every game by a wide margin is not always realistic. He expressed his hopes for a break in the near future to allow the players to rest and recharge. City’s hectic schedule continues with an FA Cup fifth-round fixture against Luton on Tuesday before a highly anticipated local derby against Manchester United next weekend. This will be followed by the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Copenhagen on March 6th.
Despite the demanding nature of their upcoming matches, City defender John Stones remains confident in the team’s ability to handle the pressure. Speaking to Sky Sports, Stones stated, “We thrive off the pressure… Every game is a final for us. They come thick and fast now, and we know we have to perform well.”
Manchester City’s relentless pursuit of success and their ability to maintain a high level of performance despite a challenging schedule is a testament to the team’s character and determination. As they continue their quest for glory on multiple fronts, Guardiola’s “supermen” are certainly making their fans proud.
