Graham Potter has turned down an immediate turn to management after rejecting Leicester City one day after being sacked as Chelsea head coach.

Potter had been linked to the Leicester job after the Foxes decided to part ways with Brendan Rodgers – but the Englishman has rejected their approach.

Potter is ‘set to take a break’ after losing his job at Stamford Bridge on Sunday night, according to talkSPORT.

Leicester are currently second bottom in the Premier League with 10 fixtures left as they look to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Potter spent less than seven months at Chelsea after he was brought in by Todd Boehly in September as the successor to Thomas Tuchel.

But it could not have gone much worse for the former Brighton boss, with Chelsea winning just three of 13 top-flight games in 2023 and the side 11th in the table.

It is thought that Potter lacked the respect of his Chelsea squad – one of the main factors behind his sacking.

Players apparently had ‘unflattering nicknames’ for their ex-boss, mostly revolving around Harry Potter, with more than a few references to Quidditch made.

Meanwhile, Alan Shearer has slammed Chelsea co-owner Boehly as he spoke about Potter’s sacking on Match of the Day 2.

He said: ‘Who on earth goes to a football club, pays over £20m for the manager and his staff, puts him on a five of six-year contract, on £10m-a-year, gives them a ridiculous amount of players with a stupid amount of money that’s been spent… and sacks him seven months later?

‘It could only happen in football… Anyone with a football brain will tell you that signing that amount of players (18) is not going to work.’

Chelsea are planning to interview at least five candidates to replace Potter – including former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Bruno Saltor has been placed in temporary charge of the side as they face Liverpool on Tuesday night.
