Graeme Souness responds to Jack Grealish after invite was accepted and insists ‘plus-one’ Paul Pogba would be welcome but tells Man City star: ‘You’re picking up the bill!’

Graeme Souness is happy England star Jack Grealish has accepted his night out offer, but only if the Manchester City midfielder pays.

The Liverpool legend invited Grealish out on talkSPORT after the 27-year-old hit back at his criticism.

Souness had criticised Grealish’s form and argued he must learn to live with negative comments he may receive.

But Grealish is happy to smooth things out over a drink – as long as he can bring Juventus and former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba to join him.

Great to see that Jack Grealish is up for a night out, which I said is something that I think I would enjoy very much,” the talkSPORT host told the Daily Mail in a column.

“I think he’s replied to say ‘let’s do it’, so long as he can bring along Paul Pogba as his plus-one.

“Well, that’s very good to hear! You’re on Jack. If I get to pick the venue and the wines, you bring along whoever you want. And by the way, you’re picking up the bill!”

Souness was previously a huge critic of Pogba during his time in the Premier League.

He often examined the Frenchman’s performances in a Manchester United shirt and claimed the 29-year-old failed to live up to expectations.

After moving back to Italy with former club Juventus signing a four-year deal in the summer, the midfielder is yet to play for the Old Lady due to a persistent knee injury.

Pogba’s absence means he will miss the Qatar World Cup in November, joining fellow international teammates Lucas Digne and Boubacar Kamara on the treatment table.

Grealish, meanwhile, is on England duty, but will return to Pep Guardiola’s Sky Blues ready for the Manchester derby on October 2.
