Liverpool U21s Come From Behind to Draw 2-2 With Leeds U21s
Liverpool U21s came from two goals down to salvage a point against Leeds U21s in a milestone outing for two young talents in the 2-2 draw.
Match Summary
The Premier League 2 Division 1 match at the LNER Community Stadium on October 29, 2023 saw Leeds take the lead in the 3rd minute through Sean McGurk, and double their advantage in the 25th minute through Mateo Joseph. Liverpool were handed a lifeline when Marcelo Pitaluga’s handball outside the penalty box led to an own goal from Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen just before half time.
The young Reds continued to press in the second half and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 67th minute, courtesy of Mateusz Musialowski’s fifth goal of the season. Kaide Gordon and Oakley Cannonier were introduced in the final 30 minutes and 90 seconds respectively, marking major milestones for both players after injury-ravaged years.
Kaide Gordon’s Milestone Outing
Kaide Gordon, 19, has only just come out of a 19-month injury nightmare having initially been sidelined in February 2022, due to growing pains in his pelvis.
The winger is slowly being reintroduced back into the under-21s side and against Leeds, he was on the pitch when the young Reds levelled the scores after being introduced in the final 30 minutes.
