Glenn Hoddle Backs Arsenal to Progress in Champions League Clash Against Bayern Munich
Glenn Hoddle, former professional footballer and manager, has expressed his belief that Arsenal will progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League at the expense of Bayern Munich. The first leg of the quarter-final clash will take place on Tuesday night in north London.
Currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table, Arsenal is engaged in a fierce title race with Liverpool and defending champions Manchester City. On the other hand, Bayern Munich finds themselves in second place in the Bundesliga, a staggering 16 points behind Bayer Leverkusen. This is despite Bayern’s impressive record of winning the German title for 11 consecutive seasons.
Hoddle has closely observed Bayern Munich this season and feels that they are not performing up to their usual standards. Despite the threat posed by England striker Harry Kane, who has had an exceptional season with 33 goals in 28 league games and six in eight European matches, Hoddle believes that Arsenal will prevail over two legs.
The winner of this quarter-final tie will go on to face either Manchester City or Real Madrid in the semi-finals. While Hoddle expects Arsenal to overcome Bayern Munich, he is unsure if they have what it takes to win the entire competition. He acknowledges that it will be a tough route, especially against teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City, who have proven their strength in recent matches.
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has also cautioned his teammates against complacency as they prepare to face a struggling Bayern Munich side. Bayern has failed to win almost a third of their league games this season, suffering defeats to Heidenheim and Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks. However, Odegaard acknowledges the quality that Bayern possesses and expects a tough battle.
In contrast to Bayern’s struggles, Arsenal has been in great form, winning 22 of their 31 league games this season and securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Brighton in their most recent match. Odegaard highlights that despite the challenges, Arsenal is ready to face Bayern Munich and believes it will be a big night for the team.
While Glenn Hoddle and Martin Odegaard have expressed optimism for Arsenal’s chances against Bayern Munich, the road to the Champions League title remains arduous. The competition is fierce, and teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City will pose significant challenges. However, Arsenal’s recent performances have showcased their strength and ability to compete at the highest level.
