Getafe President Prefers Mason Greenwood Over Man Utd Return
Getafe president Angel Torres has revealed that Manchester United’s on-loan forward Mason Greenwood is eager to extend his stay with the Spanish club for another season. Greenwood, who joined Getafe on loan after a tumultuous period at United, has been in impressive form with five goals and five assists so far this season.
After United decided to send Greenwood out on loan following his arrest in January 2022, the 22-year-old has found success at Getafe. Despite the possibility of a return to Old Trafford, Torres believes Greenwood is keen on staying in La Liga.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United’s new co-owner, has not ruled out the possibility of Greenwood returning to Manchester this summer. However, Torres emphasized that the decision ultimately lies with United and their new ownership. He also mentioned the interest from Barcelona but highlighted that it depends on United’s stance.
Torres also addressed the controversy surrounding Jude Bellingham’s comments towards Greenwood during a recent match against Real Madrid. He denied any official complaint from Getafe and emphasized that Greenwood is solely focused on playing.
With no plans to report the incident or discuss it further, Torres remains confident in Greenwood’s commitment to Getafe. As the season progresses, Greenwood’s future remains uncertain, but his dedication to the club is evident.
