# Gary Neville Raises Concerns Over Chelsea Defender Thiago Silva After 2-2 Draw With Arsenal
Gary Neville has raised three major issues for Chelsea after their 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Saturday. Goals from Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk had put the Blues in control, but a huge blunder from goalkeeper Robert Sanchez allowed Declan Rice to make it 2-1. Leandro Trossard then silenced Stamford Bridge in the 84th minute as the Gunners ended Chelsea’s run of three straight wins in all competitions.
Speaking about the match on his podcast, Neville said: ‘Chelsea have shown a blueprint of what the future could look like. They’ve still got a problem up front, they haven’t got a striker, and I still think they’ve got a problem with Thiago Silva’s age. He’s so important for them, but he is 39. And then the goalkeeper… Can he step up to be a good goalkeeper?’
Neville also praised two Chelsea stars, saying: ‘You can see that midfield, and in wide areas, they are bright. The full-backs, Marc Cucurella and Malo Gusto, did well today. And they are the second-choice full-backs, by the way.’
Gusto was the subject of criticism from Arsenal legend Ian Wright who said: ‘It’s a great cross from Bukayo Saka [for Arsenal equaliser], I think Gusto has got to have a word with himself. They cannot let Saka come back inside. Gusto looks at him and leaves him.’
Despite the draw, Chelsea remain in fourth place in the Premier League table and will be looking to bounce back when they face Leeds United on Saturday. However, Neville’s concerns over Thiago Silva’s age and the lack of a striker could prove to be a major stumbling block for the Blues if they are to challenge for the title this season.
It remains to be seen if manager Mauricio Pochettino can address these issues and get his side back on track. In the meantime, Chelsea fans will be hoping that their side can put in a strong performance against Leeds and get back to winning ways.
