Gary Neville Takes Another Swipe at Liverpool Fans Over Atmosphere Criticism
Gary Neville couldn’t resist taking another little swipe at Liverpool supporters after Jurgen Klopp’s criticism of the lack of atmosphere during the side’s 5-1 win over West Ham on Wednesday.
Liverpool Advances to Carabao Cup Semi-Finals
The Merseysiders secured their spot in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup with a thumping victory over West Ham. However, Klopp expressed his dissatisfaction with the sedate atmosphere at Anfield, emphasizing the need for a vibrant crowd when Premier League leaders Arsenal visit on Saturday.
Klopp Calls for Electric Atmosphere at Anfield
Klopp stated, “We need Anfield on Saturday. They [Arsenal] didn’t play this week – just to make sure, I know, sorry, they didn’t play – they prepared for this game and anyone who knows a little bit about them, they will be prepared. So we need Anfield on their toes from the first second.”
Klopp further urged fans to give up their tickets if they’re not in the right shape to create a lively atmosphere. Neville, who had previously criticized the atmosphere at Anfield, playfully responded to Klopp’s comments on social media.
Neville Defends His Previous Comments
Speaking on Sky Bet’s Stick to Football show, Neville defended his previous remarks, clarifying that he was referring to the early minutes of the Liverpool-Manchester United game. He described the atmosphere as “strange” compared to the usual intensity.
