Former Football Manager Christophe Galtier Acquitted of Harassment and Discrimination Charges
Introduction
Christophe Galtier, the former manager of Nice and Paris St-Germain, has been cleared of charges of harassment and discrimination by a French court.
Accusations and Trial
Galtier was accused of making derogatory comments about the number of black and Muslim players in his squad during his time at Nice. He was also alleged to have encouraged Muslim players to break their fast during Ramadan. However, he denied these allegations during his trial earlier this month.
Arrest and Charges
In June, towards the end of his tenure at PSG, Galtier was arrested. He was charged with “moral harassment and discrimination on the grounds of actual or supposed membership or non-membership of a particular ethnic group, nation, alleged race or religion.”
Verdict
The verdict was announced in a Nice courthouse, and Galtier was not present. Prosecutors had requested a one-year suspended prison sentence and a heavy fine. However, the court acquitted Galtier of all charges.
Current Endeavors
Galtier is currently managing Qatari side Al Duhail.
