Arsenal will have to pay £20 million to Galatasaray in order to sign defender Sacha Boey this summer. Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his defence and has identified Boey as a specialist right-back, who is adept in and out of possession. Ben White has been impressive at right-back this season, but Arteta still believes his best position is in the centre. Arteta has privately conceded that the lack of depth in his squad cost Arsenal during the title run-in, as they have won only two of their last eight Premier League matches.
Boey is keen on a move to England and his representatives were in the UK this week to discuss the Frenchman’s move to the Premier League. According to the Daily Mail, Galatasaray are demanding £20 million for Boey. However, Arsenal’s interest could depend on how successful they are elsewhere in the window. Declan Rice is a priority target for the Gunners, but West Ham are asking for £100 million for the England ace, which is more than Arsenal are willing to pay. If they do decide to stretch that far, Arteta may be forced to shelve other moves.
