# Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo Leaves Tottenham Stadium with Knee Brace After Suffering Injury
Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo left the Tottenham Stadium in a knee brace, with manager Jurgen Klopp admitting concern that the Dutchman may have suffered a serious injury. Gakpo had just scored on the stroke of half time to equalise before being replaced by Diogo Jota at the interval.
Klopp revealed post-match that the Reds’ No.18 had suffered the injury in a foul shortly before the goal. “He scored a goal but afterwards, but after that shot he felt it even more. It was from the foul before,” explained Klopp.
The manager went on to say that Gakpo’s injury was “the biggest problem of the game, to be honest”. He added that Gakpo was now limping down the corridor with a brace.
When asked about the severity of the injury and whether it might be a ‘bad one’, Klopp said: “Possibly, I don’t know.”
It means that Klopp will likely be without Gakpo, Jota and Curtis Jones for next week’s visit to Brighton in the Premier League. Jota and Jones will be able to play in Thursday’s Europa League tie vs. Union SG, but Ryan Gravenberch and Darwin Nunez will be in line to start at Brighton. After that, there’s an international break, followed by the Merseyside derby on October 21.
## Injury Woes for Liverpool
The injury to Cody Gakpo is just the latest in a long line of woes for Liverpool this season. The Reds have already been without key players such as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Thiago Alcantara due to injury, and now they face the prospect of being without Gakpo, Jota and Jones for their next Premier League match.
Klopp will be hoping that Gakpo’s injury is not as serious as first feared, but it is yet another headache for the German manager as he attempts to steer his side back into contention for a top four finish this season.
## Liverpool’s Injury Crisis
Liverpool’s injury crisis has been well documented this season, with several key players missing for long periods of time due to various issues. The Reds have had to cope without Virgil van Dijk since October last year, while Joe Gomez has been out since December and Thiago Alcantara has been sidelined since February.
The addition of Cody Gakpo to the list of injured players is a major blow for Liverpool, as they look to get back into the top four this season. With Gakpo likely to miss out on next week’s match against Brighton, Klopp will have to rely on Ryan Gravenberch and Darwin Nunez to fill the void left by the Dutchman.
## Looking Ahead
Liverpool will be hoping that Gakpo’s injury is not as serious as first feared, and that he will be able to return to action soon. In the meantime, Klopp will have to make do without him for their next Premier League match against Brighton, as well as their Europa League tie against Union SG.
The Reds will also have to cope without Jota and Jones for their trip to Brighton, although both players will be available for selection for Thursday’s Europa League game. After that, there’s an international break, followed by the Merseyside derby on October 21.
Liverpool will be hoping that their injury woes are behind them by then, as they look to get back into contention for a top four finish this season.
