Martinelli has impressed since joining Arsenal from Brazilian side Ituano in 2019, netting 23 goals in 104 appearances to date.

The 21-year-old is enjoying his best season in a Gunners shirt, having registered five goals and two assists in 14 Premier League appearances so far.

He will be hopeful of building on his tally following the injury to Gabriel Jesus, with Mikel Arteta hoping his stars step up to the plate in his absence.

Reports have suggested Martinelli’s new terms will see his earnings soar, with a contract worth in the region of £200,000-per-week.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, the player is understood to be happy in London, despite growing interest from Barcelona.

Xavi’s side had explored the potential signing of Martinelli, following his progress throughout the World Cup.

The Catalan giants also have a good relationship with the footballer’s entourage, but they have since been informed of his intentions to remain in England.

According to Fabrizio Romano, contract talks are also set to be opened with defender William Saliba and forward Bukayo Saka.

Both, along with Martinelli, have proved pivotal to Arteta’s side this season, and have been a mainstay in the starting XI.

Arsenal’s impressive start to the campaign has seen them secure 12 wins from 14 games, placing them top of the Premier League, five points clear of Manchester City before action resumes on Boxing Day – where the Gunners host London rivals West Ham.
