Fulham star Antonee Robinson lives up to ‘Jedi’ nickname and stuns teammates with incredible card trick

Antonee Robinson will have hopes of putting in some magical performances for Fulham in the Premier League this season.

With a nickname of ‘Jedi’, Robinson showed that he’s more than capable of pulling off the ultimate mind trick.

The 24-year-old was a part of Marco Silva’s traveling group for their pre-season trip to Portugal when he decided to show off a card trick to his teammates around the dinner table.

And the United States international showed off some slight of hand skills that would have made everyone’s favourite sabacc-playing smuggler proud.

After splitting a deck of 52 cards himself, the wing-back asked one of his teammates to do the same before launching into a lengthy story which saw him predict which card would emerge from the deck next.

And he got it right every single time, with the order being in perfect alignment with the story – finishing in style with a five-card flush.

Clearly impressed by what they’d seen, Robinson’s teammates, including for Chelsea and Watford ace Nathaniel Chalobah, swarmed him hugs and handshakes… while quietly wondering to themselves how on earth he’d pulled off such a trick.

The force is strong with this one.

Robinson has often had to explain his unique nickname, and the reason why will surprise nobody – he loves Star Wars.

He has even admitted in the past to introducing himself by his galactic nickname, ‘to schoolteachers, new friends… it’s just a part of me’.

It’s so much a part of him, that calling him by his proper name just sounds strange to his ears.

“I loved getting the costumes, the games, dressing up, watching the movies,” he said. “I feel weird being called Antonee. I prefer being called ‘Jedi.’

“I started getting called Jedi by team mates and coaches as well growing up and it’s stuck so much that I introduce myself as Jedi these days just to make it easier. There’s quite a bit of force in it.”

    We’ll say.

He also has impeccable taste, declaring Return of the Jedi as his favourite Star Wars film and Anakin Skywalker as his favourite character.

    The circle is complete.
