Former Barcelona star Xavi was the lucky winner of a Qatari lottery in 2017, during his four-year stint playing and coaching for Middle Eastern side Al Sadd. The Spanish icon, who spent nearly two decades in the Barcelona first team before moving to Qatar, won £250,000 in the Doha Bank lottery. Despite earning around £170,000-a-week during his time with the Catalan side, Xavi was thrilled with his unexpected windfall. He said he had opened an account with Doha Bank to participate in the Al Dana programme, which encourages customers to save money and offers the chance to win cash prizes. Xavi, now Barcelona’s head coach, added that he was grateful for the opportunity and wished other Al Dana customers the same luck in the future.
