Former Liverpool youth player, Jordan Lussey, is reaching out to the public for support in raising funds for his treatment and recovery following a severe injury he sustained earlier this year. Lussey, who joined Liverpool as an eight-year-old in 2002, had a promising career ahead of him. He progressed through the club’s academy and even captained the under-18s side. Additionally, he was a part of the England youth setup.
In 2015, Lussey made a move to Bolton and subsequently signed for ten more clubs over the next seven years. Most recently, he had been playing for Marine FC in the National League. However, his season took a devastating turn in January when he suffered a nasty injury to his right ankle. The injury led to a complete rupture of his ATFL and CFL ligaments. Seeking medical intervention, Lussey underwent surgery in June at Liverpool Spire Hospital, which proved to be successful.
Unfortunately, the injury has left Lussey unable to work. With a young family to support and his partner currently attending university, he is facing financial difficulties. His medical insurance for football does not cover ankle ligaments, making it even more challenging for him to cover the costs of his treatment and rehabilitation. In an effort to alleviate some of the financial burden, Lussey has created a GoFundMe page.
On the GoFundMe page, Lussey explains that his surgery fees, rehabilitation costs, and loss of earnings will amount to a significant sum. Although he received a grant from the PFA (Players Football Association) to help with his expenses, he still remains thousands of pounds out of pocket. The funds raised through the GoFundMe page will contribute towards paying off his bills and covering his loss of earnings. This will allow him to focus on his recovery without the added pressure of rushing back to work.
Lussey acknowledges that many people are facing financial challenges at the moment, but any donations, regardless of size, would be deeply appreciated by him and his family. The current goal set on the GoFundMe page is £7,000. If you would like to contribute to Lussey’s recovery journey, you can do so by visiting the GoFundMe page.
We wish Jordan Lussey all the best in his recovery and hope that the support he receives will aid him in getting back on the pitch as soon as possible.
