Nabil Fekir orchestrated some wonderful scenes with Real Betis fans as he celebrated with them after winning the Copa del Rey.

The former Liverpool transfer target helped his side beat Valencia on penalties 5-4 to secure them their first piece of silverware since 2005, which was also the Copa del Rey.

In the club’s home town of Seville, 40-year-old Joaquin Sanchez lifted the cup and in doing so, ended their 17-year trophy drought.

One of the best scenes from the match though came at the end of the game, when former Liverpool transfer target Fekir, was seen dictating the fans choreography in the stands.

He was heard singing with the supporters, where then conducted them as they jumped excitedly up and down.

Fekir, who joined the Spanish side in 2019, was on the verge of joining Liverpool a year earlier, but the deal collapsed and he later revealed it was a ‘dark moment’ for him.

Fast forward and the 28-year-old was all smiles in front of a vociferous fanbase.

On the pitch, it was a closely fought contest in front of a crowd of more than 53,000 as both teams created multiple opportunities, worked each other’s goalkeepers, and each found the net once.

Real Betis striker Borja Iglesias opened the scoring in the first half, but his effort was cancelled out later on in the period, as Hugo Duro produced an excellent chipped effort.

Whilst a penalty shoot-out is a harsh way to settle a match, it was needed to separate the two sides, and unfortunately for Valencia’s Yunus Mensah, his miss proved to be costly.

That gave Betis only their fourth ever major trophy, having won LaLiga in the 1934/35 season, which was then followed by two Copa del Rey successes in 1977, 2005, and now 2022.
