Former Bournemouth Striker Brett Pitman Leaves Club “Skint” After Scoring Seven Goals in Non-League Match
Brett Pitman, the 35-year-old former Bournemouth striker who now plays for Wessex League club Shaftesbury FC, ended 2023 on a high note. In a massive 8-2 victory against Christchurch, Pitman scored an impressive seven goals. This remarkable performance left his club in a difficult financial situation.
Pitman joined Shaftesbury FC from Portchester before the start of the 2023-24 season. It has been reported that he agreed to a £75 goalscoring bonus. This means that after the match against Christchurch, Pitman would have earned an additional £575 on top of his regular wage.
Unsurprisingly, Pitman was named Player of the Match at the end of the game. To celebrate his incredible performance, he posed for a picture with champagne and a can of 7Up.
The Shaftesbury FC social media admin jokingly mentioned that the club had become “skint” due to Pitman’s exceptional goalscoring form. In response to a fan, the club’s official account tweeted, “Beans on toast for us tonight. Skint now.”
Pitman is currently the top goalscorer in the league. He began his professional playing career with Bournemouth in 2005 and later joined Bristol City in 2010. Pitman returned to Bournemouth on loan in 2013 before making a permanent move back to the club. Throughout his career, he has also played for Ipswich, Portsmouth, Swindon, Bristol Rovers, and Eastleigh.
