LALIGA Star Keita Balde’s Home Burgled, Mother Locked in Room During Raid
Keita Balde, the Senegal international currently playing for Espanyol on loan from Spartak Moscow, has fallen victim to a burglary at his home. The incident took a terrifying turn when the burglars locked his mother in a room during the raid.
Background and Career
Balde, who was born in Catalonia, has played for several clubs including Lazio, Monaco, Inter Milan, Sampdoria, and Cagliari. He was also awarded a knighthood in Senegal for his contribution to the country’s Africa Cup of Nations victory in 2021.
The Burglary
Last week, three masked raiders broke into Balde’s home in Arenys de Mar, near Barcelona. Catalan police sources revealed that the burglars terrorized Balde’s mother, who was alone at the time, and forced her into a room. They then used an angle grinder to open a safe and stole designer watches and other valuable items before escaping through a concealed rear exit.
Fortunately, Balde’s mother was left unharmed but shocked by the incident. She managed to alert the police, who have now opened an inquiry into the burglary.
Official Complaint and Investigation
Balde has filed an official complaint regarding the burglary. The Catalonia’s Mossos d’Esquadra police are actively investigating the incident.
Delayed Revelation
The robbery occurred on Monday, but details of the incident only emerged after almost a week.
Football Career
Despite the unsettling incident, Balde made a substitute appearance for Espanyol in their 1-1 draw against Andorra in the Segunda Division on Saturday. He inadvertently helped the team take the lead with an own goal but was also booked during added time.
