According to reports, Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, Lionel Messi’s former manager, is currently in talks to take over as the new coach of Inter Miami. This news comes after Messi confirmed that he would be joining the MLS team on a free transfer this summer. The superstar had been in discussions with Barcelona and Saudi Arabia before agreeing to a deal with David Beckham’s team. It is believed that Messi and Martino have a close relationship, having previously worked together at Barcelona and Argentina. They are both from the same Argentine town, Rosario, and it is likely that Messi would welcome the opportunity to work with the 60-year-old again. Martino narrowly missed out on winning LaLiga during his one and only season at Barca in 2013-14. He and Messi also came close to winning a trophy with Argentina in 2016 when they lost the Copa America final to Chile on penalties. Despite this, Messi still holds his ex-boss in high regard and has praised him as a great coach who gets his teams playing well.
