Liverpool’s Pursuit of Andre Hits Stumbling Block After Fluminense Reject €30million Bid
Liverpool have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Brazil star Andre after Fluminense rejected a €30million (£25m) bid for the midfielder. Jurgen Klopp has been in desperate need of new defensive midfielders since the departures of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner, and the club had hoped that Andre would be the answer to their problems.
Andre Agrees Personal Terms with Liverpool
Reports had claimed that Liverpool had already agreed personal terms with Andre, but their efforts to recruit the highly-rated 22-year-old have gone disastrously so far. The Reds had a £17m offer for the Brazil international rejected by Fluminense, and even if they were to up their offer, the club’s board have informed Klopp and co. that they have no interest in letting their star go this summer while he can help them win South American’s equivalent of the Champions League.
Liverpool Miss Out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia
This is desperately disappointing for Liverpool, who had already missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to rivals Chelsea earlier this summer. The Reds had hoped that Andre would be the answer to their problems, but it appears that they will now have to look elsewhere for a new defensive midfielder.
Liverpool to Drop Interest in Andre
As such, Liverpool may well drop their interest in Andre altogether and will not return to make an new offer next year. The club will of course have other targets in mind, with links to Manchester City and England star Kalvin Phillips cropping up again. For now, Liverpool are gearing up for Sunday’s big away clash at Newcastle.
