The New Year’s Six Bowl Games: Odds and Matchups
The New Year’s Six schedule has been finalized, and the odds for each big bowl game in the 2023-2024 season have been released. Let’s take a closer look at the matchups and favorites for these highly anticipated games.
Orange Bowl: No. 5 Florida State vs. No. 6 Georgia
After being left out of the College Football Playoff despite being the first undefeated Power 5 conference champion, Florida State will face Georgia in the Orange Bowl. The Bulldogs are currently favored by two touchdowns.
Peach Bowl: No. 10 Penn State vs. No. 11 Ole Miss
Penn State, a frequent participant in New Year’s Six games, will aim to win its fourth straight bowl as it takes on Ole Miss, led by head coach Lane Kiffin, in the Peach Bowl. Penn State is favored by 3.5 points.
Cotton Bowl: No. 8 Ohio State vs. No. 9 Missouri
Missouri will make its first-ever appearance in a New Year’s Six bowl game against Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl. Despite the potential absence of star player Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State is favored by more than a field goal.
Fiesta Bowl: No. 23 Liberty vs. No. 8 Oregon
Liberty, the Group of 5 automatic qualifier, finished their undefeated season without facing any Power 5 teams. They will now face Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl, with Oregon favored by 14.5 points.
Rose Bowl (CFP Semifinal): No. 1 Michigan vs. No. 4 Alabama
In one of the College Football Playoff semifinals, Michigan will take on Alabama in the Rose Bowl. This highly anticipated matchup will determine who advances to the national championship game.
Sugar Bowl (CFP Semifinal): No. 2 Washington vs. No. 3 Texas
The other College Football Playoff semifinal will feature Washington and Texas in the Sugar Bowl. Both teams will battle it out for a chance to compete for the national title.
