Ferguson’s main concern was the potential time delay caused by VAR decisions. He suggested a time limit of 30 seconds to ensure the smooth flow of the game. He emphasized that if a decision couldn’t be made within this timeframe, the game should continue without interruption.
He stated, “If you can’t make a decision in 30 seconds, the game carries on. 30 seconds is the amount of time you take for a goal kick or a corner, so it wouldn’t disrupt the game significantly.”

Implementing a time limit for VAR decisions could potentially solve many problems and prevent excessive use of VAR. It would either expose the quality of officials if obvious mistakes are missed within the time limit or restrict VAR to only checking the most obvious incidents.
