Wolves Striker Fabio Silva Joins Rangers on Loan for the Season
Fabio Silva, the 21-year-old striker for Wolves, has made a loan move to Rangers for the remainder of the season. The Portuguese player will be competing in the Scottish Premiership after agreeing to a straight loan deal, without the option for a permanent transfer.
Silva, who became Wolves’ record signing in 2020 with a potential value of £35 million, has struggled to live up to expectations and has fallen out of favor this season. Despite successful loan spells at Anderlecht in Belgium and PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Silva failed to impress Wolves head coach Gary O’Neil and has not featured in the Premier League for almost two months.
With only four goals in 62 Premier League appearances, including 20 starts, Silva’s long-term future at Molineux seems uncertain. Although he is under contract with Wolves until 2026, with an option for an additional year, a successful stint at Rangers could boost his chances of attracting a new permanent club in the summer.
Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs expressed the need for Silva to play and acknowledged that he hasn’t been given enough opportunities at Wolves. He hopes that Silva’s loan spell at Rangers will allow him to score goals and potentially reassess his future at the end of the season. Hobbs also praised Silva’s decision to join Rangers, highlighting the club’s European presence and recent success.
Overall, this move presents an opportunity for Silva to prove himself and potentially secure a permanent transfer in the future. Both Wolves and Rangers are optimistic about the loan deal and hope it benefits all parties involved.
