Liverpool’s No. 3, Fabinho, was born Fabio Henrique Tavares in Campinas, Brazil. He began his career with Fluminense and it was in their youth ranks where his nickname ‘Fabinho’ was born. This was due to another player with the same first name and a coach who wanted to make life easier. He moved to Europe in 2012 as an 18-year-old, joining Rio Ave and later Real Madrid, Monaco and Liverpool. Despite making the move, the name Fabinho has adorned every shirt he has worn. The other Fabio at Fluminense, Fabio Braga, went on to play the majority of his football in Brazil before starting a management company. Fabinho has since carved out quite the career with the name on his back. He is not the only Red with an interesting back story regarding the name on the back of his shirt; Diogo Jota and Alexis Mac Allister have similar stories.
