The third round of the FA Cup is when Premier League and Championship teams enter the competition. The first round proper, which includes League One and League Two sides, began on November 4. The second round is set to take place this weekend.
Maidstone United, a National League South team, achieved a remarkable victory against Barrow from League Two in the second round. As a reward, they will host either Stevenage or Port Vale from League One in the third round.
Ramsgate, a team from the Isthmian South East league, will face League Two’s AFC Wimbledon in the second round. The winner of that match will then travel to Southampton for their third-round fixture.
The FA Cup third round is scheduled to take place over the weekend of January 6-7, with the fourth round following on January 27-28.
