Manchester United Should Consider Hiring Graham Potter, Suggests Tom Cleverley
Former Manchester United player Tom Cleverley believes that if the club decides to part ways with Erik ten Hag, they should consider hiring Graham Potter as their next manager. Cleverley’s suggestion comes as incoming investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly met with Potter and sees him as a potential candidate for the managerial position at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag’s position as manager is uncertain following Manchester United’s recent elimination from European competition and their current six-point gap from the top four in the Premier League standings.
Graham Potter, who was sacked by Chelsea in April, has been without a job since then. However, Cleverley believes that he would be a suitable fit for Manchester United. In an interview with Ladbrokes Fanzone, Cleverley stated, “I personally believe that’s the kind of level of club he belongs at. You’re seeing now how much Chelsea have struggled since he left, and the problem he was having there was that the team just wasn’t putting the ball in the back of the net. They were dominating possession, they were creating bags and bags of chances… they just couldn’t score.”
Potter had a mixed tenure at Chelsea, winning 12 out of his 31 games in charge but failing to win over the Stamford Bridge faithful. Despite this, Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains a big admirer of Potter and had even considered him for a managerial position at French side Nice.
It is worth noting that Ratcliffe is set to acquire a 25% stake in Manchester United next week and will take over football operations immediately. Potter recently declined an offer to become the manager of Championship side Stoke City, indicating that he is only interested in returning to coaching for a major opportunity.
