Former England international Steven Caulker has criticised Wigan Athletic for failing to pay their players on time for the fifth time this season. The club was deducted points in March for missing three payments. Caulker, who plays as a defender, expressed his frustration on LinkedIn, suggesting he might buy a club, promise fans commitment and then only pay a handful of players. He added: “Again, my thoughts are with the good people of Wigan. You deserve better. It’s a very sad state of affairs.” Wigan issued a statement apologising for the delay and promising to pay all staff as soon as possible.
