Ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel linked with quick return to management at Bayern Munich as pressure builds on Nagelsmann

THOMAS TUCHEL has been linked with a quick return to management to replace Bayern Munich’s Julien Nagelsmann.

The German champions have suffered a bizarre run of form that sees them go into the international break fifth in the Bundesliga table, five points off the top.

A wobble has descended into a major blip as they fell to a shock defeat at FC Augsburg over the weekend.

It’s now three games without a win for Bayern who had slipped to consecutive draws before the loss.

With few questioning the chances of them retaining their German crown before the season began, the run of results may have set alarm bells ringing in Munich.

Foreign media report that the alarm is even more pressing due to Chelsea’s decision earlier this month to dismiss Thomas Tuchel.

The German boss is a world class manager and has impressed across Europe since leaving Dortmund in 2017.

The 49-year-old’s crowning achievement was undoubtedly taking over at the Blues and winning the Champions League within his first 6 months in the job.

But results this season went south as the “devastated” German was booted out of Stamford Bridge.

His presence on the sidelines could put even more pressure on Nagelsmann to find an instant remedy for results.

Following the Augsburg loss, Bild said simply: “Nagelsmann now has a problem: Tuchel.”

While Mundo Deportivo report that while Bayern’s remain supportive of Nagelsmann, they add that Tuchel waiting in the wings gives them an “easy” option if results don’t improve.

Bayern are aiming to win their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title and started the season in red-hot form before their faltering form.

On the opening weekend of the season they won 6-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt and two weeks later hit seven without reply at VfL Bochum 1848.

On the brightside for Nagelsmann, Bayern have cleared difficult tests in the Champions League to put themselves in a strong position in the group stage.

They comfortably beat Inter Milan and then Barcelona to leave themselves in a commanding position in Group C.
