Everton’s 5-0 Win Against Brighton Boosts Survival Push

Everton secured a much-needed victory against Brighton on Monday afternoon, with a shock 3-0 lead in the first half. The Toffees, who are fighting for survival in the Premier League, came out strong against their high-flying opponents, dismantling them with ease. Brighton’s goalkeeper, Jason Steele, had a moment to forget when he made the decision to move out of his net in anticipation of a cut-back pass, only for Dwight McNeil’s driving ball to hit his leg and go into the net. Chris Sutton, co-commentator on BT Sport, criticised Steele’s poor piece of goalkeeping, calling it an “absolute shocker”. Despite Brighton’s intent after the break, Everton continued to dominate, with McNeil causing all sorts of problems on the left-hand side. Alexis Mac Allister managed to breach Jordan Pickford’s goal, but it was too little too late for Brighton. Everton’s victory puts them out of the relegation zone and into 16th place, with a healthy boost to their goal difference. They now face Manchester City, Wolves and Bournemouth in their remaining three matches.
