Everton Facing Challenges in the Transfer Market, Says Sean Dyche

Everton manager Sean Dyche has admitted that the club is facing a “tough market” as they try to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season. After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Everton has made only two new signings so far this summer, with Ashley Young joining on a free transfer and Arnaut Danjuma arriving on loan from Villarreal.

Dyche expressed his desire for further additions to the squad but acknowledged that tight finances have made it challenging to secure their top targets. Rodrigo and El Bilal Toure, who were on Everton’s radar, have both moved to other clubs instead. Rodrigo joined Al-Rayyan, while Toure signed for Atalanta.

“It’s a tough market,” Dyche said. “There’s only so much that we can do so we’re working very hard to construct deals that can work.” He added that there is no exact moment when any potential deals will be finalized, as they have experienced situations in the past where they thought they were close to completing a transfer but it fell through.

Everton’s struggles in front of goal were evident last season, as they were the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League. The team’s main striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, has been plagued by injuries in recent years and has yet to feature in any preseason matches. Another forward, Tom Cannon, is also working his way back to full fitness.

In the absence of Calvert-Lewin and Cannon, Danjuma started up front in Everton’s recent 1-0 win over Stoke City. However, the team’s goal-scoring woes continue, with just four goals in four preseason games, two of which came against a Swiss second division side.

“A lack of goals is always a concern because you need to score to win games,” Dyche admitted. He emphasized the need for Everton to find different ways of scoring goals and acknowledged that it is a crucial aspect of football.

Despite the challenges in the transfer market and the goal-scoring concerns, Dyche remains optimistic about Everton’s prospects. He assured fans that the club is working hard to reshuffle the squad and make the necessary additions to improve their performance in the upcoming season.

Everton’s lack of activity in the transfer market can be attributed to financial constraints and the need to carefully manage their resources. Like many clubs, Everton has been impacted by the financial implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected their ability to spend on new signings.

However, Dyche and his team are determined to make the most of the situation and find suitable players who can contribute to Everton’s success. The manager’s emphasis on constructing deals that can work suggests that Everton is exploring various options to strengthen their squad within their financial limitations.

As the transfer window progresses, Everton fans will be eagerly awaiting news of potential signings. The club’s supporters will hope that Dyche and his team can secure the necessary reinforcements to address their goal-scoring issues and improve their overall performance in the upcoming season.

In conclusion, Everton is facing challenges in the transfer market as they seek to strengthen their squad. Financial constraints have made it difficult for the club to secure their top targets, but Dyche remains optimistic and committed to finding suitable players. Everton’s goal-scoring concerns from last season continue, and the team is working hard to address this issue. As the transfer window unfolds, Everton fans will be hoping for positive developments that will enhance the team’s prospects for the upcoming season.
