Everton Considering Recall of Mason Holgate from Loan Spell at Southampton
Everton is reportedly considering recalling Mason Holgate from his loan spell at Southampton due to a lack of game time. Since joining Southampton on a season-long loan in August, Holgate has only made five appearances for the club.
Despite his limited playing time, Holgate showcased his talent in his last outing for Southampton, where he put in a man-of-the-match performance against West Brom. However, Everton is keen for the versatile defender, who can play in both defense and midfield, to have more regular game time.
As a result, Everton may terminate Holgate’s loan spell at Southampton and allow him to find a new club in the January transfer window. Championship clubs Middlesbrough and Watford, as well as Scottish giants Rangers, are reportedly interested in signing Holgate if he becomes available.

Mason Holgate, a former England Under-21 center-back, is currently under contract with Everton until the summer of 2025. During his time at Southampton, he has only played 289 minutes of first-team football. Southampton manager Russell Martin has preferred Jan Bednarek and Taylor Harwood-Bellis as his center-back pairing.
Meanwhile, Everton is currently positioned 17th in the Premier League table, just four points above the relegation zone. The club recently faced a 10-point deduction for breaching profit and sustainability rules but has managed to secure three consecutive wins since then.
