# Everton Manager Sean Dyche Calls for Team to Do the Basics Better After Draw at Sheffield United
Everton manager Sean Dyche has called on his team to do the basics better after they drew 2-2 with Sheffield United on Saturday. The result leaves the Toffees in 13th place in the Premier League table, four points above the relegation zone.
The match was an entertaining affair, with Everton taking the lead through a Richarlison goal in the first half. However, Sheffield United equalised through a David McGoldrick penalty before half-time. The Blades then went ahead in the second half through a John Lundstram strike, but Everton equalised late on through a Dominic Calvert-Lewin header.
Speaking after the match, Dyche said: “We need to do the basics better. We had some good moments in the game but we need to be more consistent. We can’t keep giving away sloppy goals and then having to fight back.”
The draw means that Everton have now gone five matches without a win in all competitions. They have only won two of their last 10 matches in the Premier League, and have only scored more than one goal in one of those games.
Dyche added: “We have to be more clinical in front of goal and more solid at the back. We need to find a way to get more points on the board.”
The Toffees have been hampered by injuries this season, with key players such as Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin all missing large chunks of the campaign. However, Dyche believes that his side can still turn their season around.
He said: “We have some good players coming back from injury and we are still in a good position in the league. We just need to find a way to get more points on the board and start climbing up the table.”
Everton will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Saturday. Follow highlights of Saturday’s Premier League action on Match Of The Day at 22:30 BST on BBC One & BBC iPlayer (available to UK users only).
