Everton Make Bid For Manchester United Forward Anthony Elanga
Everton have made a bid for Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga, worth between £15-20m, according to reports. The Toffees tried to bring in the Sweden international on loan in January but couldn’t get the deal over the line, but clearly are still very interested in his services.
The 21-year-old was involved in the first team last season under Erik ten Hag, making 26 appearances in all competitions, but he was no a regular in the starting XI. Elanga made just five Premier League starts and one in United’s Europa League campaign, largely having to make do with late run-outs from the substitutes’ bench.
There remains great competition in the United front three from the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo, while the Red Devils are trying to buy a new striker this summer as well. Elanga would certainly be more likely to get regular game time at Goodison Park, but Manchester United will now decide whether they want to sell a player who has been at the club since 2014.
Ashley Young Joins Everton On Free Transfer
Sean Dyche is keen to add a number of new players to his squad this summer and Everton have already snapped up a former Manchester United player this summer, bringing in Ashley Young on a free transfer after his departure from Aston Villa. The England international has signed a one-year deal at Goodison Park as Sean Dyche looks to improve on the squad which only narrowly avoided relegation last season.
Young is the second signing of the summer for Everton after they brought in goalkeeper Robin Olsen on loan from AS Roma. They are also reportedly interested in signing Napoli midfielder Allan and are looking to strengthen their defence with a move for Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori.
Conclusion
Everton have been busy in the transfer window so far and are looking to add more quality to their squad ahead of next season. Anthony Elanga is the latest player to be linked with a move to Goodison Park and it remains to be seen if Manchester United will accept their bid for the 21-year-old. Ashley Young has already joined the Toffees on a free transfer and they are also looking to bring in more players before the start of the new season.
