Marco Silva was full of praise for Dan James’ performance as a makeshift striker in Fulham’s 3-1 victory against Everton at Goodison Park. The Welshman, who usually plays in midfield, was deployed up front by manager Scott Parker and rewarded his manager’s faith with a goal and an assist.
The match started off with a bang as Ademola Lookman opened the scoring for Fulham in the fourth minute. The former Everton winger cut inside from the left and fired a low shot past Jordan Pickford. The home side responded well and equalised through a Richarlison header just before half-time.
However, Fulham regained their lead early in the second half when James latched onto a through ball from Lookman and slotted it past Pickford. The Welshman then turned provider for the third goal, crossing for Ivan Cavaleiro to tap in from close range.
Speaking after the match, Silva was full of praise for James’ performance. “Dan was excellent today,” said Silva. “He is usually a midfielder but he showed his versatility by playing up front and he made a big contribution to the result. He scored a great goal and provided an assist, so he deserves all the credit.”
The result sees Fulham move up to 17th in the table, three points clear of the relegation zone. Everton, meanwhile, remain in 12th place, five points behind seventh-placed Wolves.
