Europa League Group-Stage Draw: Liverpool, West Ham and Rangers in Pot 1
The Europa League group-stage draw is set to take place on Friday, September 1 at 12pm BST. 32 teams have been split into four seeding pots based on UEFA’s club coefficient rankings. Pot 1 includes Liverpool, West Ham and Rangers alongside Roma, Ajax, Villarreal, Bayer Leverkusen and Atalanta. Brighton, who qualified for the Europa League by finishing sixth in the Premier League last season, are in Pot 3.
How the Europa League Group Stage Works
Clubs from the same nation cannot play each other in the group stage. The winners of each Europa League group will go through to the round of 16. The runners-up move into the knockout round play-offs and will play the teams who finish third in their Champions League group. The third-placed sides in each Europa League group will go into the Europa Conference League knockout round play-offs, where they will play the Europa Conference League group runners-up for places in the last 16.
This season’s final will be held at the Dublin Arena in the Republic of Ireland on May 22, 2024.
