Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has been a standout player in world football this season, leading his team towards a historic treble. The Norwegian striker has broken records almost every week and has already won the Premier League and FA Cup titles in his debut campaign in England. Haaland has had the best goal-scoring season of his career, scoring 52 goals in 52 games in all competitions this season. He netted 36 times in the Premier League, breaking the record for the most goals scored in a 38-game season, surpassing Mohamed Salah’s tally of 32 goals. Haaland also scored four goals in cup competitions, three of which helped secure the FA Cup title and one in the Carabao Cup.
Haaland’s incredible stats have made a huge impact on Manchester City, who are now on the brink of becoming the first English team since Manchester United in 1999 to complete the treble. The 22-year-old striker has also impressed in the Champions League, scoring 12 goals in only 10 games in the competition and leading City to the final where they will face Inter Milan in Istanbul. This campaign has been Haaland’s best of his goal-filled career and it was arguably the hardest as he made the move to the Premier League. With a Golden Boot in his back pocket and two trophies already won, Haaland will now aim to add the most crucial goal, or goals, of all to his astonishing tally this season in the Champions League final.
