Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker, has expressed his delight at breaking the record for most goals in a single Premier League season. However, he has made it clear that his main focus remains on winning trophies.
The Norwegian international has been in sensational form this season, scoring an incredible 33 goals in just 28 appearances. This surpasses the previous record of 32 goals, set by Alan Shearer in the 1995/96 season.
Haaland was quick to acknowledge the achievement, but was keen to stress that his ultimate goal is to help Manchester City win silverware. He said: “It’s a great honour to break this record, but I’m more focused on helping the team win trophies. That’s what I’m here for and that’s what I want to do.”
The 20-year-old has been a revelation since joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in January 2021. He has scored an incredible 41 goals in all competitions this season and is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in world football.
Haaland’s record-breaking performance is yet another example of his incredible talent and determination. He will be hoping to continue his impressive form and help Manchester City win some silverware in the coming months.
