Erling Haaland Could Make a Comeback for Manchester City’s Premier League Clash Against Burnley
Manchester City’s star striker, Erling Haaland, may be in contention to return for their upcoming Premier League match against Burnley on January 31. Haaland has been sidelined for the past nine games, including their recent win at the Club World Cup, due to a foot injury.
According to The Times, Haaland recently completed a full training session without experiencing any pain during the club’s warm-weather camp in Abu Dhabi. However, City is taking a cautious approach to his return and the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Tottenham on Friday might come too soon for him.
It is more likely that Haaland will make his comeback against Burnley at the end of the month or in City’s following Premier League fixture against Brentford on February 5.
Haaland expressed his eagerness to return to the field after being named the best men’s player for 2023 at the Globe Soccer Awards. He stated, “Manchester City is a fantastic club, I really enjoy being here. I hope to be back really soon from injury, I’m getting bored of not playing.”
City manager Pep Guardiola provided an update on Haaland’s injury before their win against Newcastle United, stating that it was a minor issue with his feet. The doctors decided to give him a week of rest and then resume training in Abu Dhabi. Guardiola hopes that Haaland will be ready by the end of the month, as the injury has taken longer to heal than initially expected.
